Shoe

I love shopping, but sometimes I get so tired of going to 4-5 places to find what I want, that I usually just turn to the Internet.  I received an email the other day, with something to the effect of:  70% off Keen over at 6pm.  WHAT?! I love Keen shoes.  So I first went to ebates (which folks, if you shop online and you don’t use, you’re being silly, you get cash back every time!) and then went on my way to 6pm.com (where I got 3.5% cash back).

When I shop online I add everything I want to my cart first, and then go through and make reasonable choices. I have a few requirements when I buy shoes. The first is that if it’s going to be something I want to wear to work, I’d like it to cover my tattoo. I have a sleeve I sometimes slide over my tattoo, but it’s easier when the shoe does the work for me. The second thing is comfort.  I’m NOT a heel girl. It just won’t happen. I can’t stand 4 hours at a shot wearing them, therefore I don’t buy them except for random occasions.  So I look for comfort without trying to look like a grandma. Sometimes, I end up in grandma shoes, it happens… And the third thing is now, they can’t be totally flat either.  They need to have a bit of support on the bottom, so the ballet flats I used to love are out and gifted on to a friend who can enjoy them way more than I could!

So I ended up with 6 pairs, and I sat and waited for them to arrive.  It took about a week, but I think that was because of the holiday.  I’m pretty sure it would have been here Wednesday if not for the holiday. Who knows.

If you notice, I only have three brands. Keen, Cliffs (by White Mountain) and Clarks.  All 100% comfort shoes.

I opened my huge box and the excitment of getting to see what I ordered (because I had forgotten already) and trying them on.  I am going to post pictures, but I apologize, my pedicure is wearing off and needs a refresher, so no judging

So, first shoe:  Clarks Nikki Peridot $45.99

I really like Clarks shoes.  If you notice, this pair just shows my star at the top of the tattoo, the rest is covered.  Clarks are shoes that last! I just recently had to get rid of a few pairs, but I bought them when I first started teaching. So four-five years of use (though I only wear them a few months a year).  So even if I don’t get them on sale, I never mind spending $90 on them.

Second shoe I slipped on: Cliffs by White Mountain Cordial $25.99

I really like White Mountain, but their normal shoes are too narrow in the top of the foot for me. Maybe after surgery it wont be an issue, but for now, I usually avoid. With an open toe sandal though, it’s hard to go wrong. I wished I could have had this in black rather than brown, because I know I’d wear it more, but I still like it a lot.

The next, another Cliffs shoe – Cove $34.99

I’ll be honest, I’m on the fence about the flower, but it’s not obnoxious, and lays flat, so I suppose it’s fine.  It covers my foot up nicely, which is nice.

Now for my two Keen shoes

The first is a great summer shoe:

Keen Santiago Slip-on $42.99

I LOVE these! I wish I had gotten more colors, but Keen’s are kind of pricey (even on sale) so I had to be choosey.  I wanted the green really bad. Perfect for work and spirit days. Maybe after vacation if they still have them, it was meant to be.

And the last shoe – which I will actually wear a lot at work, not so much during the summer, despite the name, are the Keen Summer Golden slip-on $68.  I think they’re a little aggressive and chunky, but they felt great.

All in all – very pleased with my purchase. Buying shoes online is hard. It’s hard to judge that the shoe wont have some strange cut or awkward placement of a seam and feel good.  Luckily they had free shipping so I felt a bit better about giving it a shot.
