Summer Walk Challenge Button

It’s been a few days now since the Summer Walk challenge started.  I actually started early, because I have a specific number of milage goal that requires more than a single mile each day.  I’m doing AWESOME if I do say so myself ;)

I had been using RunKeeper to log my walks. But since it updated a week or two ago, it’s been useless.  It only logs my time spent, not my distance. Like it will show distance when I’m using it, but as soon as I save the workout, it doesn’t save the distance.  Such a bummer that I don’t have the EXACT milage, but I like DailyMile (are we friends there?!) and even though it rounds on the dashboard display, I’m OK with that.

So here is where I stand currently with my walking challenge:

SummerWalkChallenge

20 miles in :) I’m pretty pleased with that.  Those only show my walking distance, as I haven’t even attempted a jog or anything lately. I don’t have the passion to run, so I’m not sure it’s worth the hate of trying. I enjoy walking, why not just embrace that? Do I have to be a runner? No. Will I still occasionally do a 5K that interests me? yes, probably very much so.  Will I still occasionally do a little jog? Yes.  I found the perfect 1/3 mile loop right in my neighborhood, I will probably use that to build up a little jogging and mix it up. But I’m not sure it will ever progress much beyond that. At least not until I get excited about it!

What do you do to make sure you get intentional exercise every day?

Getting back at it.

Holy smokes has it been a rough few weeks.  First I had just a general crappy week. I didn’t work out, I turned into a sloth. Then, the following week, which was my spring break, I was sick with the flu, and now that we’re back to work and I’m feeling better, it’s time to get [...]

I honestly never thought I’d be writing that again.  If you remember my first 5K, I was excited to have done it, but pretty sure I’d never do it again.  Honestly, I wasn’t impressed.  I never got that runner’s high.  When I was doing acupuncture, she told me no more running, and I was OK with [...]

I saw the 3rd annual Jelly Bean race a week or two ago, and mentioned to Alicia (who is my go to girl to keep me in check) and we both have signed up to run. I only registered for the 5k, but she’s doing 5 and 10k. The more events you enter, the more [...]

Well, Alicia always has something fun going on.  This week I saw her post a RAW goal of 150. I was confused, so of course I had to read more of what she was talking about. The more I thought about it, the more I thought, hey, maybe I can do this.  Of course I [...]

I love Thanksgiving. It reminds me of my anniversary, it allows me to spend time with family that I can’t always see, but most of all – it reminds me to be thankful.  Sad that sometimes I need a day to remind me.  There are so many things I’m thankful for. The other day, while [...]

Running: Love/Hate Relationship

October 25, 2011

I have a confession: I hate running. I want to love it, hell, I’d even settle for liking it.  I really do. I want to lace up my shoes, pop in my earphones and just take a jog through the neighborhood. But I can’t.  Everything about running is strained for me. It’s painful, and I [...]
