There are tons of reasons I like to go out on the trails and take a walk with my husband. The first, the most obvious, is because it’s good for you. Getting up, moving and racking up some milage is good for the body. But there’s more to it than that.
The first thing I really enjoy is the view. All of the MetroParks around me have beautiful scenary. How can you not enjoy nature and all it’s beauty?

The second thing I’ve started loving is the people. People on the trails are friendly. Everyone smiles, they say hello. I can’t even get that in my own neighborhood. It seems like when I go onto a trail, I’m suddenly taken to a place where everything else in life stops mattering. IT doesn’t matter that I’m behind at work, or that I have a test to grade. It doesn’t matter that someone is going through a divorce or just had a fight – people take a step onto the trail, and suddenly it’s like the world is at peace.
And finally, probably the most therapeutic thing for myself on the trails, is that I can be me. I don’t have to worry about what I’m wearing, no one cares. I don’t have to suck in my stomach for fear of someone judging me. The trails are freeing. I can go out there, be exactly who I am, and there’s no judgement.
Are you a fan of trail walking/running?? What draws you out there?

I'm a 30-something yoga-lovin', tea-drinkin' high school teacher struggling to find my place in this crazy world. My blog focuses on my journey to lose weight, get healthy, and our attempts to become a family of three. I spend a lot of time exploring and embracing Akron, often photo-documenting my trips. Everything else is just the glitter in my life that adds to who I am.
