Weekly Wrap Up

You would think being all gimpy that I wouldn’t have a lot going on, but oddly enough I do.

Monday I had a follow up. Doctor said looking great.  I was a ‘model pateient’ beacuse he could tell I was following doctors orders. minimal swelling, everything was looking good.  Boo on the fact though that bones take 6 weeks to heal, I have a few more weeks on these crutches that I’ve grown to love accept.

During the week I was busy working on lesson plans, that are slowly getting moved to my ‘finished’ folder.  I also went to work on Wednesday.  It was crazy. I drove for the first time in 10 days, and I’ll be honest, it was scary and it hurt.  When my foot is down, it hurts, a lot.  I can feel the pin in my foot at all times pretty much (I know they say you don’t, but that little twinge when the nerves are growing back right at the spot of the pin is a reminder of what is there!). I also learned that I have major hot flashes on vicodin.  Like, I’m talking full on sweat. I was wiping it off my face while the people I was talking to wear zipping their jackets because it’s so cold inside.

But the trip to work had a great outcome – ALL of my classes are actually in my own classroom. This is HUGE for me. Because I teach computers and business, I typically travel to someone else’s room during my business class. This is a pain for many reasons, but mainly because I have to displace them (which I always feel bad about) and because I always end up leaving something important in my own classroom.  So now, I am super excited to use my own room all day, but I need to decorate for business. I’ve never had a room to decorate for business class. Exciting!

I have also been busy crafting. As you saw the other day, I reused hard floppy disks to make pencil holders.  I had a lot of fun with that project.  I also decided to put to use the even older, 5.25″ floppy disks.

Each of these have a random technology-related fact on them. I will read one per week, and then hang it up in the front of my classroom.
These factoids will be used as bonus questions or tiebreakers during a review game. No one will be able to read them from their seat.

We have to have a hallpass for the students.  I had a few extra disks and figured I might as well make mine out of them.
There are two teachers with the same name at my school, luckily I’m the only computer teacher ;)

On Thursday I received my deluxe box from Eco-Emi that I ordered when they announced they were selling special ones.  I haven’t been able to get on their regularly subscription list, but was excited to jump on this. Here’s a sneakpeak at what I got, the box was FULL of goodies!

And, because the infertility journey never ends, today I am having a second saline ultrasound done. I mentioned it before, I haven’t had one since last summer, and he just wants to make sure everything is as it should be.  My mom is taking because I can’t drive. Thankfully it’s a pretty painless procedure.  My plans this weekend are to do a little shopping.  I will have to be in a wheelchair with stops to elevate it.  But I need to get some tops for back to work. A lot of my shirts are a bit big, I need to do some trying on.

What are your plans this weekend?
